Introducing: The Business Bard TM
The Lion's Den by Scott Clark

Is a visit to your loan officer fraught with
The same peril as a trip to a lion's den?
You can tame a lion with a big piece of meat.
The same tactic often works with loan officers.

Try approaching them before you need capital
And lead them to enlightenment by
Helping them understand you, your business,
And the way you run it.

Your hunk of meat could include
A company tour and business briefings
Topped off with periodic financial statements.
When the time is right, add a project plan
For your proposed loan alternative.

When those cold-blooded cats understand
Both what you do and how well you do it,
Their anxiety may diminish,
Along with the tightness of their purse strings.

And if you clearly demonstrate sufficient collateral,
Coupled with generous cash flow to cover contingencies,
And management experience at conserving capital,
The ferocious lions should be subdued and seek to
Embrace you with open arms and pocketbooks.
